Sunday Aug 1 Sarah 22 years old day. We had breakfast at Hales Tavern. Wells. River Vermont. Then left in the Packard for Augusta Maine. Drove through Littleton-Bethlehem Crawford Notch. Bretton Woods North Conway New Hampshire to Poland Springs and on to Augusta Maine. Covered 180 miles of road good, bad, and indifferent. Had lunch in Bridgeton on the way. We registered at the Augusta House then took Sarah over to Robert and Grace Whitney Williamsons and of course had to have a look at the new baby the first thing. He is really very wonderful. Mrs Williamson (Roberts mother) took us all out to the Country Club to dinner, a very delightful meal at a very delightful place. We drove back to Mrs Williamsons house and sat around and visited, before a cheerful fire in the fire place. The evening having grown cool. To bed now at the augusta House.
