The Newspapers of this morning announce the swimming of the English Channel by Gertrude Ederle an American girl. She crossed from Cape over Neg France to Deal England near Dover. She is the first woman to ever swim across and she also established a new record for the crossing. Her time was 14 hours 31 Minutes - the old record was 16 hours and 23 minutes - held by Sebastian Tipaboschi of Italy. Miss Ederle is but nineteen years and a native of New York City - Went in to the office this morning although my vacation does not end till Monday. Sarah left on the Colonial Express for Garden City Long Island to visit Dorothy Evans Wood for a few days We closed at one o'clock spent the afternoon at home at my desk reading over Material that had collected on my desk at the office during my vacation.
