Tuesday Aug 17 Tessie is some better today and sat up a little while. She is pretty week. Rotary at noon today then left at once for Boston at 1-20 P.M. to attend meeting of the New England Wall Paper Dealers Ass'n. Met Mr. Shaffer in Boston (our Springfield Store Manager) and attended the meeting at the Boston City Club. Spent the night at the Hotel Brunswick. We received a letter today from Alfred Grant of Woodsville N.H. telling us that his Mother passed away very suddenly on Sunday last. We are so sorry for these dear friends. On the same day Louise, Alfreds sister gave birth to a baby daughter. How strange life is, and how hard to understand, but we know this, "The Lord gives and the Lord taketh away", blessed be the name of the Lord.
