Sent all the girls at both York street and Chapel Street stores home at noon York Street store closed at noon. The men at Chapel Street stayed till six o'clock. Some valentine business. Experts say that with this storm and the one of last Thursday we have the most snow since the blizzard of 1888. Drifts on the state highways are from ten to fourteen feet deep. We have been served notice by the state Highway Department that we must not send trucks farther North than Meriden untill further notice, on account of of the choked roads.
