Thursday July 8 Came home to supper early. Sarah called for me. Then went back in to town to a meeting of Trustees of Calvary Baptist Church. We voted that the Building Committee go ahead and have the roof repaired. Also have the iron water pipes replaced with brass pipes. We are also to prepare plans and get prices on necessary changes to the Church Kitchen. The S51 - U.S. Submarine which was sunk in collision last Winter off Block Island was raised and floated to the Brooklyn Navy Yard today. She is to be opened and her dead taken out and buried.
