Wednesday Mar 3 We had a letter today from Alice Drew Lockwood who is spending the Winter in Pasadena California. She told us of Bert Hodges visit on his way to China, they had a fine visit. Meeting tonight of the Board of Directors of the New Haven Grays Veterans Association. Phil English arranged for us to have dinner and hold the meeting at Mory's a famous Yale Institution at 306 York St. just north of Elm Street. We hear that our Chapel Street building has been leased to The House of Hasselbach. Candy and Soda store now on Chapel Street below Orange Street. The lease is for twenty one years. The first seven years eighteen thousand the second seven years twenty one thousand, the third seven years twenty four thousand, these amounts are not to the owners. --- (This is an interesting entry to think about how everyone is related to each other. Alice Drew Lockwood and Vernon are first cousins on Vernon's mother's side. But Bert Hodges and Vernon are first cousins on both sides of the family. Vernon's father, William, and Bert's father, Henry, are brothers. Vernon's mother, Sarah, and Bert's mother, Jane, are sisters. So Bert and Alice are also first cousins.)
