Sunday May 16
Very cold rain all day long. We had let our furnace go out last Friday, but had to light it up again today it is so cold. Went into Church on the trolly car as our automobile is in the Paint Shop. Sarah went in with me and to the Station to meet Doris Glaenzer from New York who is coming for the week end. Spent the day indoors since dinner on account of the rain. Wrote letters to Lillian and to Aunt Lucy. Newspapers report that the big Airship "Norge" from Spitzenberg over the North Pole arrived at Nome Alaska yesterday at 2 A.M. The Norge is Italian built and is in charge of Captain Roald Amundsen, Lincoln Ellsworth and sixteen other men. The attempt which has been accomplished, was to fly from Spitzenberg directly over the North Pole to Alaska.
