Cold and raw again today with a high wind. Samuel Matlock, president of the George D. Wetherill Co. and Jack Stutt, his sales manager, at the store today. Jane Ankenny at the house for a few days. She and T.P.H. called for me at six. Had dinner at home. The situation in China grows worse each day. The civil war there seems to be envolving nationals of other nations and no one knows how it will all come out. Sally had a letter from cousin Bert Hodges. He was then in Java and didn't know how soon he would be able to get back to Shanghai. Richmond and Ruth called.
