Did not go to the office this morning but started at nine o'clock with T.P.H. to drive to Camp Arden, Brattleboro, Vermont and to Sarah. It was a beautiful day all day long. Stopped for a while at the Springfield store. Then on to Northampton and lunch at the new hotel there, the Hotel Northampton. This is a very delightful hotel. We arrived at Camp Arden at about 4-30 just as Sally and her girls were returning from the "Old Swimming Hole". She and we were glad we came. We had a picnic supper up on the hill where they play "Martin Pippin". Also saw them reherse a part of this charming playing. We later drove on Newfane to spend the night at the quaint Newfane Inn. Newcomb Bassett made the trip with us.
