Sunday, August 7, 1927 And still the sunshines. Sally spent the night with us at the Newfane Inn. We all had breakfast here and drove up Newfane Hill and reveled in the memories of the residents of long ago. The scenery and the air was gorgeous. Met a man up there who told us all about the taking of the village from atop of the hill to the valley below. He then piloted down the "Short Way" which was right down the side of the mountain. We had to decend nearly all the way in low gear. We had Sunday dinner at the inn. Took Sarah back to Camp Arden. Then drove through to New Haven without incident or mishap, ending a most delightful week end and a happy one as we were with Sally.
