A very cold morning. The coldest thus far this Winter. 10 above zero in many parts of the city. T.P.H., Sally, and I went down to the station to meet the 1-54 for Springfield to greet Alice and Fred Lockwood on their way through. They will have Christmas in Springfield then go on to California for the Winter. They have sold the big house in Norwalk and closed it for good. Worked till about four o'clock then came out home and dressed the Christmas tree. Sarah went in to St. Paul's to direct their pageant. Community carolers came through the streets singing carols. They stopped at our house and sang. Sarah lighted the candles as usual at all the windows and as is our custom, when twelve o'clock arrived, we three sat down and opened the gifts prompted by our love for each other and the love of our friends.
