Thursday, January 13, 1927 At New London attending the Convention of Master Painters at the Hotel Mohican. T.P.H. called me from New Haven, having received a telegram from Sarah that she was to play the lead in the Laboratory Theatre Production, "The Trumpet Shall Sound". She is to play "Sarah Budie". Mother went down and enjoyed her success with her. She played the part well and was congratulated by the rest of the cast. Ray Hall and I drove home at night arriving home at about one o'clock. --- (This seems to be an understudy performance. I was able to find the playbill for the Laboratory Theatre 1926-1927 season and Sarah isn't listed in the cast for this show. It also explains why Theresa would go down the same day to see the show. But Sally plays the role again on [3/17/1927](1927_03_17.md) so perhaps not.)
