Saturday, July 2, 1927 Closed at one o'clock till Tuesday morning. "Cally" and Beatrice Davis came up from Plainfield, N.J. to spend the Fourth with us. Philip Richardson of Corning, N.Y. came on and met Muriel Newell here, both to spend the holiday with us. I worked in the garden all the afternoon planting more golden bantam corn. The four American fliers who made the trip from New York to France in one airship, Commander Byrd, Acosta, Noville, and Balchen, were being made much of in Paris by both French and American people.
