Monday, July 4, 1927 July the Fourth and a beautiful day. Not too hot with a fine breeze. All the young people still here (see page 184). I took them into town and showed them through the York Street building, including the "House Beautiful", and then took them down to Harkness Memorial Quadrangle. They all enjoyed it very much. Came back home and T.P.H. had prepared a gorgeous steak dinner for us. We all played ball down on the Webb lawn then had a basket picnic on the Spring Glen Club grounds afterwards. Men, women, and children all played "Duck on a rock" till dark when the Webb Brothers set off a fine display of fire works. Went home. Got out the old Packard and rove up on the Ridge Road and watched the fire works from all directions. We all had a very happy day.
