Saturday, July 9, 1927 A beautiful Summer day. Closed the store at one o'clock. T.P.H., Sarah, and I drove to Newfane, Vermont (138 miles) to take Sarah to camp tomorrow. She is to assist Miss Evarts with the drama work at Camp Arden, Brattleboro, Vermont. It was a wonderful drive up and we found Vermont just as beautiful, just as alluring as ever. We do love it so much. We had dinner (supper, I should say) at the Newfane Inn and stayed for the night. It is such a quaint place, considerably over a hundred years old and filled with antique furniture, old prints, and rugs. Mother just goes wild about everything.
