A beautiful Summer day today. Warm and clear and invigorating. Slept late but got up in time to with T.P.H. to St. Paul's Church to hear Mr. Elmore McKee preach. This is to be his last Sunday as Rector as when he returns from his vacation, he is to take up his new work as Pastor of Yale University Church, a new position, and which he is most able to fill. His people at St. Paul's feel badly to have him go. Home all afternoon reading and working in the garden. T.P.H. and I took a walk up on the Ridge this evening.
