Monday, July 25, 1927 Very hot again today. Picked our first string beans today. This is the first of our crops. Had enough for ourselves, some for Violette, and some for Harley. Went down and called on S.E. (Ted) Carnahan. He is to leave New Haven to accept a fine position in Cleveland, Ohio. We shall miss him very much at Calvary Church.
