Sunday, June 12, 1927 A beautiful day till middle afternoon. Then clouds and a cool wind. It is Children's Day today at Calvary and did so appreciate the sunshine and flowers. Held our service at 10-30 hour and enjoyed a fine program put on by Mr. Wheaton with help of junior and primary supervisors. The attendance was the greatest of the year. 456. I had asked as a special favor that we reach the 450 mark. It made me very proud and happy. The newspapers today are full of the reception in Washington yesterday to Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh. The trans Atlantic River, over 300,000 people gathered at. The Washington Monument to greet he and his mother, who had come to Washington to meet him. President Coolidge commissioned him a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve Corps. His simple speech to all this honor is appended. --- (There is another [newspaper clipping](<Newspaper Clipping from June 12th, 1927.md>) on Lindbergh.)
