Wednesday, June 15, 1927 Quinnipiac to lunch. Home to dinner. Worked in the garden till dark (9 o'clock Daylight Saving Time) planting corn. Jack and Elizabeth Dyer called. Colonel Lindbergh still being feted in New York. He pulled a great stunt during the night (Wednesday-Thursday). He had attended a theatre benefit party and was being taken to a after theatre dinner when he turned his automobile to Mitchel Field and in full evening dress took off with the first streak of dawn, 3-05 A.M., for Washington D.C. to get his own plane, "The Spent of St. Louis". He landed at Ballroy Field, Washington at 4-44 A.M., hopped off again for New York at 5-09, and was back at Mitchel Field at 7-57 A.M. This was almost a dramatic as his hop to Paris.
