Sunday, June 26, 1926 Rained early. Then about one o'clock, a terrific thunder shower swept over the city with a deluge of rain. I was caught driving home from church. The lightening struck a big oak tree across from "Glendean" and shattered it. Sarah and Muriel Newell was upstairs in the front bedroom and were severely shocked. They did not get over the effects of it till night. We held the last session of our church school today. Had a promotion day program and gave out the attendance pins. Spoke at Yale Hope Mission tonight. A lot of down and out men attended. The supertendant Mr. and Mrs. John MacDonald are on a vacation in Scotland.
