Friday, May 20, 1927 Drove to Springfield store and took Aunt Lucy to Westfield with me to "Little Lucy's". Aunt has been visiting us for a few days. It has been a beautiful day. The apple blossoms and foliage plants so fine. Drove home tonight alone. Reached home in time for dinner. All the world is agog today as Captain Charles A. Lindbergh hopped off from New York this morning at 7-52. D.S.T. to attempt to fly to Paris without stop and all alone in an airplane. At 7-15 P.M. tonight, he was sighted passing St. John's Newfoundland and headed over the broad Atlantic Ocean.
