Went to New York today. Took our Mr. Chamberlain with me. Met Mr. Henry Burn and Mr. Miller of the Robert Graves Co. to talk over plans for a new wall paper season. Looked through their new showrooms at 7th Ave and 57th St. Then went to the Hotel Commodore for lunch and the conference. Came up on the four o'clock train. Poured hard rain all day. Down to the armory tonight to the Gray's Grannis Medal Drill. They had a big crowd but very few of the older friends there. Most of them were friends and relatives of the younger men, which is perfectly natural and as it should be.
We have burned up all of our coal and let the furnace out today. This is the latest we have ever had to keep a fire.
