Raining hard this morning. Had a regular hurricane during the night. Wind blew great guns. No electricity this morning. Wire down outside some where and as we cook with electricity, of course no breakfast. Left at 11-50 noon for Boston over the Shore Line. Meeting of the New England Wall Paper Dealers Association. Arriving in Boston, I registered at the New Statler Hotel. It certainly is fine and a most needed addition to Boston hotels. Our dinner and meeting held at the Boston City Club. A good dinner and a good meeting. Much against my wishes, I was elected president of the association for the coming year. Ruth Elder and her pilot, who left New York on Tuesday in an attempt to fly to Paris, were rescued by a steamer near the Azores. Their plane blew up just as they were takin aboard.
