Thursday, September 22, 1927 Lew Chase of the Becker Smith and Page Wall Paper Company paid us his annual visit today. We had dinner at the Taft Hotel then went to the Shubert Theatre to see a new play, "Bonita". Musical, with a big male chorus. It was very good. Harley and Lew hustled out to West Haven to get the returns from the Tunny-Dempsy fight. I went in to the Quinnipiac Club and heard the last five rounds over the radio. The fight was held at Soldiers Field Stadium, Chicago. 150 thousand people paid admission. Tunny, the champion, received a million dollars as his share. Dempsey, the challenger, received 450 thousand dollars. Tunny was awarded the bout at the end of the tenth round.
