Sunday, August 12, 1928 A beautiful day. Clear and cool. Slept late. Worked in the garden till early afternoon. Had dinner at home. Ate the first tomato out of our garden today. Jack Dyer called for a short while. T.P.H. and I drove down to West Haven to see Harley and Alice. Alice is suffering with ulcers on one of her eyes. They told us that it has bothered her for nine weeks. Came and had supper in the breakfast nook. Read with much interest Mr. Herbert Hoover's speach of acceptance on his notification of his nomination. It was most constructive and promised continued prosperity. I most certainly hope he is elected. [Prev](1928_08_11.md) - [Next](1928_08_13.md) <img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/d/1kR12gpJqm6IWlgjRHejUQfDV0ngoysqu">
