Thursday, August 23, 1928 Rain! Rain! Rain!!! It does rain so easily. Worked all day on Wall Paper. T.P.H. called for me tonight and we had dinner at home and went to bed early. The people are gossiping about Alfred E. Smith's speach of acceptance last night and comparing to that of Herbert Hoover's, the Republican nominee, of last week. The comparison was hurtful to "Al".
