Saturday, August 25, 1928 Showers all day long. Meeting this morning of all outside salesmen. Mr. Fred Skeen of the George D. Wetherill + Co., Philadelphia, spoke to our men. Drove down to Double Beach at one thirty to the outing of the New Haven Architecture Club. Rained most of the time. Only sixteen sat down to dinner instead of nearer fifty they expected. Had a good dinner and a lot of fun. Nellie Bliss Chandler and daughter Ruth came today to stay a few days with us. Her son Robert is returning home today from his wedding trip. Called this morning at the home of Mrs. Sully on Sherman Ave. Her son committed suicide yesterday in New York by gas. He was a former member of the New Haven Grays.
