Monday, December 3, 1928 Mild, partly cloudy, fog tonight. Sarah came home tonight from her trip up to Vermont for the dedication of Elm Lea School. We all had dinner at home. I went over to the Spring Glen Club to a smoker. About 28 or 30 men there. Played cards, had refreshments of cider, apples, cheese sandwiches, and crullers. President Elect Hoover has now reached Ecuador, South America and will leave there today for Callao, Peru, where he expects to land on Wednesday. Expressions of good will are being expressed by the South American governments on account of this good will trip of Mr. Hoover's.
