Wednesday, February 22, 1928
Washington's birthday, a general holiday. Business was generally suspended. We closed all day but Mr. Chamberlain and I worked till one o'clock on wallpaper orders. Home this afternoon. Had an early dinner then went in to Calvary Church as it is also Mr. Camp's (our pastor) birthday. Mrs. Charles Lincoln class had planned a surprise for him, asking the people to come to the prayer meeting then stay for a program of music and refreshments. 250 came and Mr. Camp was so pleased. Yale alumni day today. Many old grads back for the day to see Yale at work. President Angell announced that the new Sterling Library just started would cost seven million dollars.
