Back to the office this morning. The day hot and muggy. Tonight again our daily shower and a heavy downpour it is too. Had lunch at the Quinnipiac Club. Charles P. Walker was there. Had a nice chat with him. Received a announcement from Ralph Lankler that he had a son (the lucky stiff). I must write him and congratulate him. The newspapers tonight tell of the number of accidents and deaths yesterday during the celebrations of July Fourth. I shall hope to see the day when fire works will be prohibited. 205 deaths. Far too many for one holiday. Home to dinner tonight. Ran to the mailbox for T.P.H.. The first of Sarah's camp letters. It to be followed by a stream of them, from mother to daughter. Got soaking wet doing the errand.
