Cloudy and overcast all day with a shower tonight. Arose late then worked in the garden practically all day or until a shower drove me indoors at about five o'clock. I picked and T.P.H. cooked and we ate our first lot of string beans today. Had enough for Mother Peck and Violette too. It is very quiet around Glendean as the Geres and Russells and Harrises are all away. Just like being back in the country. Spent the evening reading.
