Another fine day but not quite so hot. Had lunch at Quinnipiack Club. Came out home early to dinner as Mrs. Newell, Muriel, and Charles Jr. stopped for dinner on their way over to Saybrook. Muriel is at home in Springfield, Mass. for a while from Corning, New York. She looks so well. We were so glad to have them all. I went over to the Spring Glen Club to a meeting of the Spring Glen Community Ass'n. Met for the purpose of listening to the report of the special comm. appointed to look into the matter of the proposed stores to be built on the William's property on Whitney Avenue. It was voted that the association was not in favor of the stores being built on that location.
