Sunday, July 29, 1928 Beautiful day. Clear and cool. Regular Adirondack Mountain weather. Worked in the garden all day long. Planted the last planting of sweet corn. Had string beans, lettuce, and beats for dinner out of the garden. Tasted mighty fine. Howard and Ruth Curtiss Donovan called this afternoon and said good by. They are sailing next week for Bahia, Brazil where Howard is United States Consul. They may not be back for three years. Sarah came down from Camp Arden to Springfield last night to see Muriel Newell Richardson. Mother called her up on the phone and Ruth was able to say "good by" to her.
