Sarah is still away on her New Hampshire trip. I had luncheon at the Quinnipiack Club then left at four o'clock for Thompsonville, Conn. to the Charter Night of the Thompsonville Rotary Club. Governor Allen Bagg was presenting the American Flag to the new club and he asked me to make the presentation speech for him. I appreciated the honor very much. After the dinner and ceremonies (11-30 P.M.), I went on to Springfield and put up at the Kimball for the night. It is very hot all of a sudden. Perhaps it is some of the "hot air" being wafted east from Kansas City, where the National Republican Convention is in session. It looks as though Herbert Hoover would be nominated on the first ballot for president.
