Herbert Clark Hoover of California and present Secretary of Commerce on President Coolidge's cabinet was nominated for president at the National Republican Convention now being held at Kansas City, MO. His selection was overwhelming on the first ballot. He received 837 votes out of 1084 cast. If elected, he will make a wise and honest president and we hope for his election. This has been an ideal Summer day. Clear and bright and wonderful. Lota Curtiss graduates from New Have High School (Hillhouse) tonight. The Spring Glen community are holding a carnival on the Webb Grounds tonight. I went down for a while. Won three-five round packages of sugar.
