Thursday, June 28, 1928 Another fine day. Had luncheon with Howard Palmer at Quinnipiack Club. We had plans to talk over regarding changes at Calvary Church. New lights, etc. T.P.H. called for me at six-thirty and we drive down to Wilcox's Savin Rock to the installation ceremony of the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club. Herbert Halland is the outgoing president and Harrison Purdy is the new one. John Duncan presented Herb with a beautiful diamond studded Rotary button. I spoke on the ladies part in Rotary and how the whole family benefited byt he husbands membership in Rotary. "Al" Smith of New York was nominated for president at the Democratic Convention at Houston, Texas. Senator Robinson of Arkansas was nominated for vice president.
