At the Kimball Hotel. Harley went on to Boston on business and I spent the day calling on customers with Mr. Shaffer. We spent some time with Mr. Pomeroy selling him the idea of opening a Wall Paper Department. We had lunch at the Park Square Hotel. Drove back to Springfield and caught the four o'clock train back home. Had dinner at home. My cold, which was pretty fierce yesterday, is a bit better tonight. T.P.H. attended Mrs. Arthur W. Chamber's funeral today at her home, #433 Edgewood Ave. Rev. Dr. Petty of Plymouth Church and Rev. Mr. Camp of Calvary conducted the services. Aunt Lucy passed away this morning. Lucy Cosby and Eliza were with her. I was not surprised after seeing her Wednesday. Poor dear. She can now rest after a life of hard work and many discouragements.

(I assume this is Eliza Williams Bedore, Aunt Lucy's daughter, as opposed to Eliza Drew Bill, Aunt Lucy's sister. Vernon almost always refers to Eliza Drew Bill as "Aunt 'B'".)
