Wednesday, March 7, 1928 Left New Haven this morning with Harley in his Packard for a trip calling on Massachusetts customers. Called first on the Bryan hardware Co., Westfield, Mass. Then went on to the Springfield store. Had lunch in Westfield first however. Drove to Northampton and registered at the Hotel Northampton. Had J. Hugh Pierce down to dinner and then spent the evening with us. Elizabeth Pope Dyer died this morning at the hospital of St. Raphael. She had been ill but for a few days. She leaves besides her husband Jack, John K.L. Allan and Mary Elizabeth, age twelve years old. She was a fine neighbor and friend.
