First Lenten Service this noon at the Bijou Theatre. The Rev. Howard Weir, the new rector at St. Paul's Church, was the preacher. He had a fine sermon. A good many came into the service but most of them were church people, not many off the streets. Perhaps they will come later. Went down to the New Haven City Hall tonight to appear in favor of the City appropriating $500.00 for Music Week to be celebrated in May. No one opposed it. Then up to Calvary Church to a meeting of the Christian Endeavor Alumni Association. Came home with Violette on the trolly car and walked over home with her. Then she had Clayton get out his old Hudson Bus and bring me home.
