Warm and fine today. A few straw hats are venturing forth. We intended that our furnace fire should go out today but as there was still fire left, we put on some more coal. Came home early from the office and dressed and with T.P.H. drove over to Derby to Hotel Clark where the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club was holding their first birthday party and ladies night. We had a fine dinner and danced afterwards. Frank Haggard of the Hartford Club was the speaker. He gave us a fine speech. Doris Glaenzer of New York stopped over for the night on her way home from Boston. The New York Yankees played the New Haven team today and Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig held a reception on the Green to the school boys. They nearly mobbed them both.
