Another fine day, clear and mild. Took the Packard car in this morning to have the brakes adjusted. Burt Pratt of the Robert Graves Co. called on us today. Also George Dennitt of the M.H. Birge + Son Company. Meeting of the New Haven Council Boys Scouts at 5 o'clock at Headquarters. Many matters of interest were discussed. Home to dinner and worked on my talk for the Milford Rotary Club tomorrow noon. The Steamer Vestris, owned by the Lamport + Holt Company, went down off the Virginia Capes Monday night. Death list is now 108 while 148 passengers and crew have been picked up by rescue ships. She was on her way from New York to South America.
