Beautiful day, warm and clear. T.P.H. and I left in the Packard for Plainfield, N.J. to visit the Davis'. We went down to New York, crossed the Hudson at Dyckman Street Ferry to Eaglewood, N.J., then down through Hackensack, Elizabeth, Newark to Plainfield. Beatrice was glad to see us and we were just as glad to see them. The great attraction of course was both Colwell Davis, 3rd now, six months old, and king of hearts. He is a beautiful baby. Perfectly well and so good natured. Cally came home from New York in time for dinner and we had a fine old visit. Later we went over and found Mrs. Watts (Alfred Grant's grandmother) and brought her over to see Tess. We have had such a fine day. The brakes on the Packard are acting badly.
