Monday, October 29, 1928 Very fine day. Clear and cool. Meeting at four o'clock with the finance committee of the Boys Scouts at the office of the New Haven Gas Light Co. We discussed several plans for permanent funds for the council. T.P.H. came for me at the office and I took her up to the apartment house #700 Howe Street where a group of Sarah's friends had arranged a surprise dinner for her in honor of her birthday tomorrow. From there, we all went down to the Shubert Theatre to see the play "These Days", written and produced by the Drama Department of Yale last year under the name of "Finished".
