Tuesday, October 30, 1928 Another fine day and T.P.H. fifty first birthday. It is also Mary Elizabeth Dyer's birthday so Tess took her to the movies then to dinner and finally back home. She was so happy over it. Grant Noble sent T.P.H. a lovely bowl for to mix waffles in. Sarah gave two Sherbert glasses and I gave her eight plates to match the glasses. Violette gave her a silver olive fork and Amy Warren a jar of preserves. Rotary at noon today. Prof. William Lyon Phelps, "Billy", gave us an intimate talk, telling us of his trip through Europe this Summer and his meeting of the great literary leaders of the world.
