Thursday, September 13, 1928 Cloudy this morning but it cleared up beautifully in time for us to meet at the Armory on Meadow Street. For the anniversary outing of the New Haven Grays. Actives and veterans met and left in a body line motor busses for Champs Farm, Bridgeport, Conn. We had a fine afternoon playing games - baseball, quoits, races, and finally a tug of war between the veterans and actives which the veterans won. Dinner was served in the club house and was most enjoyable. Captain F.W. Holloway of the Actives presided and called on many veterans and guests who responded all in a happy vein. We returned to New Haven in the busses and Captain Holloway brought me out home in his automobile. We feel that the 112th Anniversary was well celebrated. Violette's birthday. Harley, Alice, Tess, and I gave her some linen pieces for her table. She was much pleased. Bless her heart.
