Sunday, September 16, 1928 Cloudy again this morning. The sun came out a while this afternoon but it is very damp. Went in to church this morning. Calvary Church opened its services after being closed since July first for extensive repairs and changes. We have redecorated upstairs and down, put in new lights and a new ventilating system, new floors and new floor covering down stairs. The people all seemed to be much pleased with the results. T.P.H. and I went down to Wilcox's and met Harley and Alice, Mr. and Mrs. Pomeroy, Mr. and Mrs. Love, Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd, all of the Bryan Hardware Co. of Westfield, Mass. We have them down every year for a shore dinner. We then went down to Harley's house and the women visited while we men talked about the Paint and Wallpaper business. T.P.H. and I left and drove into the Beckleys. Bertha went to the hospital tonight to be operated for cancer. We had tea with the twins, Ruth and Esther. Sarah went over to Saybrook with a crowd.
