Terrific hot wave struck us today. Thermometer in our yard went to 82° in the shade. We went in to church this morning, T.P.H. to St. Paul's and I to Calvary. Violette and Clayton brought me out home. After dinner, we took Mother and Father Peck and drove to Middletown to see cousins Howard and Fannie. We had not been up there for a long time. They were so glad to see us. Norman and Grace and their boy came over and later Harry and Ana and their wonderful baby boy came to see us. We drove home without incident and got Father and Mother to bed no worse for their trip. The heat is very trying coming on so suddenly.

(I have to give up on this one for now, which is sad because this is one of the rare times that Vernon is talking about the Peck extended family. After hours of searching, this grouping seems to have the best match of information. Maybe Vernon is just wrong. It is his wife's second cousins and their parents.
- Cousins Howard and Fannie
- Howard could be Howard S. Peck, son of Joseph Peck and Harriet Jane Winchester. This would make him a cousin to Father Peck and Theresa's first cousin, once removed. Howard is located in Middletown in 1929. He seems like a strong match.
- However, Howard's wife is Caroline M. Doude, not a "Fannie"/"Faunie". On some public records, she is "Carrie Peck", but that doesn't look right to me either. There is a Fannie Skinner located in Middletown in 1929, married to Winchester Peck (Howard's nephew through Andrew Peck), but that seems pretty far relationship-wise and unlikely based on who else is in attendance.
- Norman and Grace (and their boy)
- Norman could be "Joseph Norman Peck", Howard S. Peck's son. He is located in Middletown in 1929 and has a 5 year old son.
- However Joseph Norman Peck is married to May Amelia Dickes, not Grace. BUT another of Howard S. Peck's sons is Horace Howard Peck who is married to Grace Lula Daniels. They also live in Middletown in 1929 and have a 6 year old son. Additionally, Howard S. Peck had a daughter Grace who passed away in 1917, but this is extremely unlikely to be the Grace we're looking for.
- Harry and Ana (and their baby boy)
- Harry could be "Harry Dowd Peck", Howard S. Peck's son. He is located in Middletown in 1929.
- He is married to Ana Fagan. They have an almost one year old son at this time.
