A beautiful morning. Was at the office at 7-30. Cleared my desk and drove to Hartford with Walter Spencer to attend the Spring Conference of the 30th District, Rotary, at the Hotel Bond. New Haven had a fine delegation. We held a marring session. Noon luncheon. Afternoon round tables and evening dinner. The speaker of the evening and the official representative of Rotary International was Joseph Shulz of Prague, CheckoSlovakia. He is a noble fellow, very lovable. Charley Maschal and Joe Cieri of the new Norwalk Club were there with me. The men are urging me to stand for nominee as district governor for next year. We shall see how the clubs will feel about it tomorrow. We presented Jim Gunn with a Radio Phonograph with records and to Mrs. Gunn a large bouquet of red roses.
