After the long drouth, the deluge the showers that started gently last night developed into a series of thunder showers that lasted all night long and flooded everything. Our back garden was a lake, covering nearly the whole area. Webb's Brook was up nine inches higher than ever before. Over three and a half inches of rain fell. This afternoon, T.P.H. and I drove over to the New Haven Hospital to call on Aletha Knapp Stone and her new baby, "Betsy Day". Aletha is coming along nicely. Worked nearly all day on my August letter to the Rotary Clubs of my district.
