Sunday, August 25, 1929 A perfect Summer day. Bright sunshine, cool breeze. Very quiet around the house, all neighbors away for the weekend. Slept late. After breakfast, worked in the garden till dinner time. Had a nice bath and shave. Helped T.P.H. with the dishes then we both sat out under the big tree and read till time for her to get supper for her father and mother. I wrote letters to Aunt Jane and Percy in England and to sister Lillian in Washington.
